Ordination Questions for Anthropology (Man)

These questions have been compiled from 10 ordinations within Baptist Church in West Michigan. I trust these will help you prepare for ordination and appreciate the Truth of God and His Word!

Ordination #1

1.         What is dichotomy? Trichotomy? Which stand do you take and why?

2.         How old do you place your human ancestors on the earth?

3.         How is the human nature, and the sin nature, transmitted from one generation to another?

4.         Since God knew man would fall, why did He decide to create us?

5.         Are we sinners because of Adam’s sin or because of Eve’s sin? Give Biblical support.

6.         Do all men have a free will? Do any men have a free will?

7.         What is meant by the statement that we are created “in the image and likeness of God?”

8.         Explain 1 John 3:9

9.         Was Adam holy before the fall? In what sense?

10.        When does a fetus become a person? Biblical basis for your answer?

11.        What counsel and options do you see for an unwed mother?

12.        Give Biblical answers to describe your position on abortion.

13.        What is the position of the man in the home to be?

14.        What is meant by “head of the wife?”

15.        What is your Biblical position on homosexual “rights”?

16.        Give some facts high school young people could use to refute biological evolution.

17.        What counsel would you give to a family with a patient who was terminally ill or medically brain dead?

18.        How does a believer “walk in the Spirit”?

19.   What was the effect of the fall on each part of man’s nature and makeup?

Ordination #2

1. Please give us a statement on transgenderism and gay marriage? Scripture?

2. How does Rom 1 connect into this cultural issue?

3. Is it possible, when a man marries a man, is this a marriage?

4. Have you had to deal with students that deal with this?

5. At what point in life are we a sinner?

6. How were angels created and why were they created?

7. How would you define total depravity?

8. What are the results from our total depravity? (looking for Eph 1 – where we are dead in our trespasses of sin)

9. How do we interact with spiritual truth when we are dead in our trespasses of sin?

10. Have you ever counseled someone who is dealing with suicide?

11. What are several talking points when discussing this with a believer?

12. What are several talking points when discussing this with a unbeliever?

13. Give us a statement on infant death.

14. Explain that “man was create to rule the earth.”

15. Explain how the old nature and new nature interact in a believers life. Define nature?

16. LGBT issues: at what point are we dealing with the result of sins and/or the act of rebellion against God?

17. Please clarify, “intentionally designed separate” from each other?

18. How do men and women complement each other?

19. Any verses that point out that women are equally as valuable and have the same dignity of God.

3. Please explain your view on the sanctity of life?

2. What is a Man? What is a Women? (asked by Chris Weeks)

3. Follow up: Is it essential that we stick to these?

4. Is Gender a Tier 1 issue for you?

5. If you son wants to be a girl, what would you do?

6. Do you believe that CRT(Critical race Theory) is helpful or not helpful today?

7. Does CRT see the problem with systems or individuals?

8. Why did you put the “Genesis 1-11” statement in your paper?

9. Given Racial tensions and CRT, how do Christians/Pastors/Churches respond?

10. Genesis 1 statement is 24-hour literal days. How would you respond to a church that wants to be more open?

11. How would you respond to the tension between hurting someone’s feeling and the truth of God’s Word?

Ordination #5

- How does marriage propel God’s kingdom commands?

- Help us understand you view – complementarian, generous complementarian

- What roles can women use in the ministry of the local church?

- Brief theology of singleness

- Explain how you will handle, scripturally, Same Sex Attractions and Gender issues

- How essential is one’s race/ethnicity to one’s personhood/identity?

- Are there any other intended outcomes, other than children, within marriage?

- Are there other positives to being married?

- How do you balance the reality of brokenness and dignity?

- In a fallen world, can good Christian choose not to marry and choose not to have children and still honor God?

- What if being pregnant could put the woman’s life in danger?

- In what sense has the fall effect man?

Ordination #6

1. I am a new Christian, Please explain the first phrase, “God created mankind to bring Himself Glory.”?

2. Reference Marriage, Submission – please explain the beauty of marriage and significance.

3. Being an unmarried guy, how do you reconcile Malachi passage with Matthew’s exception?

4. Is there a reason for divorce for a believer?

5. Reconcile that with Malachi’s “God hates divorce”?

6. What would your advice be to a woman who is experiencing abuse?

7. Define the Image of God, elements?

8. How would you say that the gospel in God’s Word actually elevates Womanhood?

9. What would be your understanding about gender identity cultural issues?

10. How would you advise parents whose child is struggling with gender identity emotions?

11. How would you respond to a college age ministry that is transgender? As a group and with the individual?

12. Clarification: Position on Complementarianism, please define and clarify egalitarianism.

13. Christian hedonism: do you agree and how do you explain it to an individual?

Ordination #7

1. Why did you combine the two into one statement?

2. What does it mean that God was made in the image of God?

3. Rom 8 – conforming to His image – how are we being conformed to the image of Christ?

4. What practically does it look like? Passage that gives us a picture of his image?

5. What is marriage as defined by God’s Word?

6. What should someone do regarding thoughts of same sex attraction?

7. Your statement regarding Divorce and Remarriage

8. God created me as a transvestite – please respond.

9. Respond to the concept of “White privilege.”

10. Respond to how a church can be involved in social justice issues

11. How do you respond when doing social justice assignments you are serving for Christ but others are serving just to do good? How can we work together (Moral vs Faith Serving)?

1. Can you define depravity of man?

2. Is a homosexual born that way?

3. Is the image of God gone forever? Will it be restored and when?

4. Support "the soul is transmitted along with the body through the process of natural generation."

5. Di- or Trichotomist?

6. When did sin and death come into God's creation?

7. How long after creation did Adam and Eve sin?

8. Articulate a biblical definition of marriage.

9. Guidelines for who you will or will not marry.

10. Divorce and remarriage statement.

11. Relate Genesis 1:27. Relate to a man stuck in a woman's body. What determines gender - body or brain?

12. Role of women in ministry.

13. LGBT in ministry - living in sin. Can they be in ministry?

14. Addressing biblical view of gender to the youth of your church.

Ordination #9

·       Who would you counsel about divorce?

·       Give us a statement about transgenderism?

·       How would handle a homosexual or transgender person in youth group seeking to use the law to endorse their lifestyle?

·       How does divorce impact service in the local church?

·       Where does the Bible say that homosexuality is wrong? From the New Testament? Did Jesus affirm that homosexuality is wrong?

·       How would you respond to the question “why do we hate gays?”

·       Is divorce the ‘unpardonable sin’? Does a woman who divorces her abusive husband, sin?

·       Can a person who was divorces before salvation mean that he can be a pastor?

·       Would you allow a person to become a member of the church who did not believe in the literal 6th day of creation of man?

·       Do you believe in day age or 24 hour literal day creation?
