Scripture Meditations for a Pandemic

Pandemics affect more than our bodies. They also infect our minds and spirits with fear, anxiety, and panic, turning our hearts away from God. To overcome this challenge, believers should find refuge in God by renewing their minds with his Word. To that end, the following Scripture verses can help us think well and grow spiritually in the face of overwhelming events like the COVID-19 pandemic. Psalm 9:20

Put them in fear, O LORD, thatthe nations may know themselves to be but men. Selah.

Psalm 23:4

Yea, though I walk through thevalley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; yourrod and your staff, they comfort me.

Psalm 34:4

I sought the LORD, and Heheard me, and delivered me from all my fears.

Psalm 46:1-3

God is our refuge andstrength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear, eventhough the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midstof the sea; though its waters roar and be troubled, though the mountains shakewith its swelling. Selah

Psalm 56:3

Whenever I am afraid, I willtrust in You.

Psalm 112:7-8

[The righteous] will not beafraid of evil tidings; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD. His heartis established; he will not be afraid

Psalm 115:3

Our God is in heaven; he doeswhatever he pleases.

Matthew 6:31-34

Therefore, do not worry,saying, “What shall we eat?” or “What shall we drink?” or “What shall we wear?”For after all these things the Gentiles seek. 1 Timothy 2:2
