Biblical Leadership Lesson 5: Exemplary Faith

Memory Verse: 1 Timothy 4:12Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.Definition of faith: a focused state of mind that chooses to trust or rely upon somethingSupporting Verses: Matthew 14:28-32, 17:20; Romans 10:13; Hebrews 11:1, 3, 6, 8, 33; James 1:6-8

  1. Consider the Word: Why is this mindset important? (Heb. 11:6)
  2. Consider the Word: How does faith operate? (Heb. 11:1, 3)
  3. Consider the Word: How does faith know what to rely upon? (Rom. 10:13; Heb. 11:33)
  4. Personalize the Word: Why should you take responsibility to read and study the Word of God accurately and thoroughly?
  5. Consider the Word: Once you know what God says, what quality must describe your faith? (Jam. 1:6-8)
  6. Consider the Word: What does it means to say that God measures faith by duration, not size? (Mt. 17:20; Mt. 14:28-32)
  7. Consider the Word: What does faith do? (Heb. 11:8; Mt. 14:28-32)
  8. Personalize the Word: As you trust and obey Scripture, who or what are you actually relying upon? (Mt. 14:28-32)
  9. Take Action: What areas of your life are grounded in clear teaching from Scripture and you are counting on God to come through as you obey what he says? And what areas of your life are not guided by clear teaching from Scripture? What can you do to correct this and be an example of faith in those areas as well?
