Biblical Leadership Lesson 4: Exemplary Love

Memory Verse: 1 Timothy 4:12

Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

Definition of love: a focused state of mind that is prepared to speak or act in behalf of the spiritual welfare of others (2 Cor. 4:15; 7:3; Ps. 91:14)Supporting Verses: Matthew 22:38-40; John 3:16; Romans 5:5; 1 Corinthians 13:1-3, 13:4-7; 2 Corinthians 5:14-15, 12:14-15; Galatians 5:22; Ephesians 3:18-19; 5:25; 1 Thessalonians 5:9

  1. Consider the Word: Why is this mindset important? (Matt. 22:38-40; 1 Cor. 13:1-3)
  2. Consider the Word: How does this mindset behave? (1 Cor. 13:4-7)
  3. Consider the Word: What is the best example of this mindset? (Jn. 3:16; Eph. 5:25)
  4. Personalize the Word: To whom does God want to reveal his love through you?
  5. Consider the Word: How does love handle rejection? (2 Cor. 12:14-15)
  6. Consider the Word: Name the source of this love? (Gal. 5:22; Rom. 5:5; 1 Ths. 5:9)
  7. Consider the Word: How can you cultivate this love within you? (2 Cor. 5:14-15; Eph. 3:18-19)
  8. Personalize the Word: What biblical thought(s) from this lesson challenges or encourages you the most?
  9. Take Action: Will you prayerfully evaluate your calling by God as a Christian man to cultivate a focused love for the people God has placed in your life, whether at home, church or otherwise?
